Job Description

Talentcor is recruiting a Sales Representative for our client a national hardware distributor, to represent a manufacturers line in the coatings, paints and polymers industry. Our client, a leading supplier is seeking someone for the Milton to Kitchener and some SW Ontario territory. The sales representative is responsible for the maintenance and growth of existing accounts as well as establishing new business. You will support local representatives providing finishing products to compliment their sales to industrial contractors, general contractors, builders, woodshops, mills and other industrial customers.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Promoting sales for the line as an individual producer and supporting sales teams in field who also develop opportunities for you to sell in their territories.
  • Daily travel to clients and prospects including managing all sales activities related to our customers
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with both clients and prospects by providing information to them on our client’s products and how they best suit their needs
  • Prospecting, developing and expanding new business and market share
  • Achieving and exceeding the given territory revenue targets
  • Develops proposals based on customer requirements using proposal tools, procedures and margin guidelines
  • Managing developing and expanding an established database of customer base, prospects and service proposals
  • Update clients on new innovations and products coming to field
  • Manage costs to maximize productivity in the territory though proper planning and scheduling
  • Develops and maintains an active and healthy sales funnel
  • The successful candidate will be independent and a results driven individual with a demonstrated track record of success

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven sales results in an Industrial Sales role, preferably with coatings sales experience or practical industry knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal skills in all dealings with customers and colleagues
  • Post-secondary education in marketing is preferred combined with relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the touch-up and finishing industry
  • Highly organized and motivated
  • Demonstrates strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and shows the discipline and willingness to work with our proprietary web-based CRM package
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Available for frequent travel as this is a large territory


  • Base salary plus commission and bonuses on achievement
  • Monthly car allowance, fuel is paid for with receipts
  • Hotels are covered with present business limits
  • Work from a home office once you are established in your new position, cell phone is supplied but a home office is required. iPad, printer and high-speed internet are required to be supplied by the representative
