Job Description

Design Group Staffing is currently seeking an Completions Superintendent for our client based in Calgary, AB.


  • Managing hydraulic fracturing fluid sourcing and transportation.
  • Working with service suppliers to ensure the correct equipment and personnel are allocated and available for operations as required.
  • Maintaining communication with government and corporate representatives.
  • Providing written specifications to the Logistics Supervisor for transport of equipment.
  • Coordinating with service companies for the timely provision of equipment and services.
  • Coordinating the post evaluation of key performance analysis and continuous improvement of ongoing completion projects.
  • Ensuring all corporate and regulatory safety objectives are met.
  • Providing cost estimates for completions, workovers and abandonments.
  • Ensuring the compatibility of equipment at the drilling/completions interfaces.
  • Supervising and providing day-to-day support for Wellsite Supervisors.
  • Preparing completion sub-assemblies and shipping them to the rig site.
  • Monitoring material inventory for all completions equipment.
  • Approving invoices and managing completion costs.
  • Creating an Authority for Expenditure (AFE) for completions and workover operations.
  • Preparing post-well completion reports, including well status information and documents for handover to the operations department.
  • Checking invoices prior to approval by the Drilling Manager.
  • Working with the sub-surface team to design fit-for-purpose completions.
  • Providing technical recommendations and support to other organizational units.
  • Scheduling resources for jobs and projects to meet deadlines.
  • Providing efficient operations oversight and undertaking immediate troubleshooting in the event of problems during the completions phase.
  • Planning operations and preparing the completions program for each well.
  • Preparing detailed programs for completions, workovers and abandonments.
  • Researching innovative technology, including new operational techniques and downhole and surface equipment.
  • Ensuring completions timely and compliant Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) standards.
