Job Description

Our client, a leading global Tier 1 automotive supplier is looking for a Test Technologist to join their Engineering team.  This is a permanent, full-time position located in Vaughan, Ontario.  Reporting to the Product Validation Manager, your primary responsibility will be to test and validate components and products to ensure safety, fit, function, reliability and compliance with specifications and industry standards.  Key responsibilities include:

  1. Set-up and perform tests using standard electronics test equipment such as; power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters and CAN/LIN communications software.
  2. Maintain organized and safe working conditions and good housekeeping practices at all times.
  3. Test and validate components, modules and systems ensuring compliance to specifications including ISO9001/QS-9000/TS16949 standards.
  4. Utilize electrical schematics and technical drawings to analyze or diagnose ECU and accompanying circuitry at the circuit board level.
  5. Perform analysis and troubleshooting of DC motor products, ensuring the integrity of test data and accuracy of reports.
  6. Inspect and document the condition of electrical and mechanical components.
  7. Maintain and troubleshoot test equipment, ensuring the proper calibration and operation of all equipment, instruments and gauges and track incoming/outgoing parts.
  8. Support the engineering team in planning, purchasing and installation of equipment, test fixtures and instruments.
  9. Create wiring harnesses perform soldering of wiring and components in support of test engineering.
  10. Participate in the development and maintenance of test specifications and work instructions.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum three (3) year Technologist Diploma (Mechatronics or Electronics).
  2. 3+ years’ experience testing electro-mechanical products and related component instrumentation.
  3. Strong ability to read and interpreting electrical schematics, specifications and technical drawings.
  4. Strong knowledge of instrumentation, electronic control and testing techniques – must be able to perform circuit-level analysis, identify components/functions, perform basic electrical calculations and safely hand components (ESD).
  5. Hands-on experience with and the ability to set up and configure various test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators and multimeters.
  6. Ability to apply technical judgement for the resolution of various problems involving different technologies.
  7. Knowledge of BLDC actuators, motors and controllers.
  8. Knowledge of GD&T and measuring techniques.
  9. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English.
  10. Knowledge of automotive and manufacturing quality requirements such as; ISO9001/QS-9000, TS16949 and electronics quality requirements.
  11. Supervisory skills is an asset.
  12. Familiarity with CAN/LIN networking and analysis tools (Vector CANalyzer is an asset).
  13. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
