Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Sales Representative for our client located in Guelph, ON.  The candidate would be responsible for reaching out to new and existing customers in order to increase orders and revenue for the company. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Acquisition and support of new customers
  • Optimally exploit potential of existing customers, e.g. through cross-selling
  • Visit customers / leads according to own planning
  • Follow up leads resulting from trade fairs and other measures
  • Potential analysis of customers / leads
  • Identify customer's / lead’s decision-making structures and develop / maintain the appropriate contacts
  • Present the existing portfolio of problem solutions and new solutions to customers / leads
  • Identify problems and motivation of customer's / lead's decision-makers and present suitable solutions
  • Prepare quotations if the solution consists of products for which there is a list price (gross or net). Otherwise, pass on a structured description of the problem to the internal sales team so they can draw up a quotation
  • Follow up on quotations and explain customer benefits to the customer / lead to defend quotations against competing solutions
  • Carry out price negotiations within the defined framework and close sales
  • Receive orders and forward promptly (normally 1 working day) to internal sales team
  • Channel communication between customers and company
  • Assist in startup of equipment and equipment support
  • Active and continuous use of available information to find out about changes in the product and service portfolio

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma or qualification as technician in process engineering, or food production Technician
  • 2-3 years’ Experience in beverage, soft drink, brewing, wine making, dairy technology
  • Specialist Knowledge:
    • Standard disinfection/hygiene processes
    • Metering technology, measuring and control technology
    • Industry-specific regulations (CFIA, OMAFRA)
    • Standard MS Office applications
  • Personal Skills
    • Strong negotiating and sales closing skills
    • Strategic, self-dependent handling of the market
    • Structured, results-focused approach
    • Communicative professional style
    • Mindset and working style geared towards effective selling and business
    • Solution-oriented thinking
    • Ability to work in a team
    • Willing to travel is necessary.  Valid G class license, and valid passport.
