Job Description

Our client, located in Toronto, Ontario is seeking a Sr. Product Quality Engineer.  This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Sr. Manager, Global Quality.  Your primary responsibility will be to ensure product design quality as it applies to new and existing products.  Key responsibilities include:

1. Lead all product and design quality activities, including continuous quality improvement initiatives.
2. Working actively with cross-functional teams, identify and assess product quality risks at the early design stages to mitigate risk of future occurrences.
3. Oversee new product validation activities including; reliability engineering, component validation, supplier related quality issues and validation engineering.
4. Drive and promote a preventative and proactive quality improvement culture utilizing best practices such as Poke Yoke
5. Plan, coordinate, analyze and report on new product validation testing.
6. Develop and execute product quality plans to ensure design process and product robustness.
7. Analyze and utilize past problem history and warranty information to improve future product quality and reliability.
8. Promote, participate in and assume responsibility for DFMEA activities.
9. Champion LEAN activities and projects for new developments and existing products.
10. Work closely with and visit manufacturing sites to ensure the successful execution of product quality and test plans.
11. Participate in PFMEA and DFM activities to ensure product design quality as it applies to product manufacturability.
12. Review failure analysis reports and corrective/preventive actions to ensure failure modes do not recur.
13. Utilizing program management tools, ensure activities meet project timing requirements and present project status reports and technical findings to senior management.

Qualifications:

1. Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
2. 6+ years of relevant experience inclusive of product development quality within the electronics industry.
3. Experience leading quality initiatives as they apply to product design, risk assessment, reliability and design validation.
4. Strong knowledge of complex mixed signal (analog & digital) product and systems design.
5. Understanding of Electrical, Mechanical and Material Science as it applies to product design and failure analysis.
6. Demonstrated problem solving skills using tools and methods such as; 8D, A3, DMAIC, SPC, DOE, PDCA, 5P, 5Why, FT and process mapping.
7. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
8. Program and/or project management experience.
9. Experience managing and working with remote design teams and contract manufacturers.
10. Strong understanding of statistical methods, continuous improvement and LEAN methodology.
11. Experience with new product launches and/or PPAP activities is a definite asset.
12. LEAN Green or Black Belt certification is a definite asset.
13. Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Minitab.
14. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification is an asset.
15. Ability to travel up to 30% domestically or internationally.
