Job Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, PCA Engineering, the Principal PCA Engineer will provide Process Control Automation (PCA) engineering design and construction packages to directly support the Fort Saskatchewan operations.  


  • Provide detailed designs, scope of work, and control narrative for both capital and expense projects;
  • Assist with project schedules and cost estimates;
  • Lead technical support for engineering studies;
  • Work on DCS configuration and project commissioning;
  • Complex/High level troubleshooting to support Operations and Maintenance as required; and
  • Provide mentorship to other engineering personnel.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 15+ years of experience in an industrial environment (preferably brown field);
  • Chemical engineering with specialization in process control (M.Sc. engineering degree preferred);
  • Strong working knowledge of the applicable industry best practices and standards (such as ISA);
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to function in multiple cross-functional project teams;
  • Strong writing and communication skills;
  • Proficient experience with APC and RTO application in process industries;
  • Experience with DCS systems such as Emerson DeltaV, ABB Advant, Fischer Rosemount 3 (RS3) and ABB Symphony;
  • Open-minded and values the diverse opinions, styles and background of others;
  • Leadership skills would be an asset; and
  • APEGA (P.Eng.) designation is required.
