Summary

Our client is looking for a Senior Project Manager who understands project safety, client satisfaction and the project’s financial performance are the Senior Project Manager’s responsibility. The ideal candidate will contribute to business development and to furthering the company’s ability to compete in the marketplace. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing and constructing major projects consistent with Company's core values, policies and procedures. The ideal candidate implements management systems, practices in all assigned projects and has the authority to assume or assign duties and responsibilities typically performed by other project personnel if the size, complexity and personnel availability warrants.

MUST HAVE:

  • 7+ years Canadian experience.
  • Waste Water/Water Treatment Plant Facilities - New Construction/Rehabilitation.
  • A Mechanical/Electrical background is an Asset.

Project values range from $50 Million to $125 Million.

Safety Management

  • Knows, practices and enforces the clients safety policies and procedures to visibly create safe operations as a top priority on the project site. Establishing clear guidelines with the subcontractors and sub-trades on the project site as well.

Quality Management

  • Ensures the project meets quality and performance specifications and regulatory requirements. Conducting daily inspections of the project to ensure work is being done correctly and appropriately. Reviews project start-up checklist and implements functions. Knows the specifications and regulatory requirements for the project.

Estimating Management

  • All aspect of Estimation Management; creating bid packages for subcontractors, prepare estimates, including, labor hours, material costs, schedules, etc. Analyzes sub-trade quotations, liaison with subcontractors for clarification of issues, while ensuring subcontractors are clear about the scope of their subcontracted work.
  • Prepares and documents project estimates following estimating policy and procedures.
  • Creates sketches, drawings and specifications to meet client requirements
  • Prepares bid bond applications.
  • Attends pre-bid meetings, estimate packages, and produces proposal schedules. Site visits as required.
  • Interprets project drawings and specifications, analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals and other project based documentation.
  • Maintains tendering process and sets up cost monitoring and reporting systems/procedures.
  • Tenders closings (e.g. reviews documents, compiles proposal information, participates in closing meetings).
  • Participates in turnover meetings with Project Management on successful bids.
  • Addresses addendums, change orders, etc.
  • Responsible for accurate take-off of quantities from project drawings and specifications.
  • Costs out potential scope of work changes, bid to construction reviews and additional costs claim situations.
  • Customer follow-up of proposals.

Education, Experience and Skills

Post-secondary degree/diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field plus 5 to 7 years of experience in the field of construction project management with exposure to projects of major scope. Advanced skills in MS Office products – Excel, Word and Outlook, Primavera and Prolog software are an asset.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Professional registration, P.Eng. And/or Gold Seal Certification in Project Management is an asset.
