Your Opportunity:

Are you a Senior Civil Estimator who's dreaming at night about the 'West Coast Lifestyle" and a longing for a move to the lower mainland? Design Group Vancouver have an immediate opportunity for a skilled Senior Estimator to join our client a locally based general contractor. Our client is building for the future and are interested in speaking with experienced Civil Estimators form throughout Canada. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious and successful company and build an estimating team to prepare bids on challenging civil and buildings projects. 

Your Role:

  • Reviewing requests for Qualification, Proposals and other contractual documents and preparing statements of qualification packages, proposals and presentations to clients;
  • Preparing and then participating in meetings with clients, consultants and partners;
  • Preparing work breakdown structures, quantity takeoffs and requests for quotes as well as leading in the preliminary and final cost estimates;
  • Identifying local subcontractors and suppliers and evaluating and identifying project opportunities and risks;
  • Participating in proposal clarifications and contract negotiations and in the coordination of design development with design team members;
  • Maintaining large working files and performing any other related tasks that will help complete the project. 

Your Background: 

Applicants for this role must have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering;
  • 8 years minimum experience in a major Canadian market. a mixture of infrastructure and buildings experience and experience in P3 procurement processes will be preferred;
  • Experience working for a contractor in major infrastructure projects and experience with quantity takeoff. Also experience using Heavy Bid, Bid2Win and MC2 Software;
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, codes, industry practices, and key trade contractors;
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word;
  • Ability to work within deadlines and within a team;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to pay attention to details and possess a strong initiative;
  • Able to travel within Canada as needed.
