Job Description

Talentcor is recruiting for a Registered Nurse (RN) in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia.

Accountabilities:

  • Organize, manage, and lead the care area/unit that is assigned
  • Lead & supervise a team of LPNs, CCAs, and PCWs, including identifying issues and resolving them as needed
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff including providing annual reviews, supporting opportunities for continuous education, and providing feedback as required
  • Assigning staff to ensure that all procedures and policies are followed in a safe manner
  • Assist in all duties as required to ensure sufficient coverage of shifts, including physician runs, assessments, committee meetings, supporting families, and performing audits as required
  • Ensuring that all physician orders are processed & orders are placed
  • Administer medications, treatments, and documents according to policy & procedure
  • Perform pharmacy duties on a rotational basis as required, including filling orders weekly, submitting monthly medical supplies order, etc.
  • Develop & meet annual care goals & objectives, reporting progress quarterly
  • Completing & reviewing pre-admission assessments, comprehensive nursing assessments, and ongoing assessments of residents
  • Communicating with staff daily to discuss and/or resolve resident care, family concerns, staff coverage, and unit issues
  • Develop & exceed goals, objectives and standards for the unit, which align with our client’s mission, values, and strategic plan
  • Ensure that departmental operations are provided efficiently within the approved budget
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for residents, families, and staff

  • Other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Outstanding verbal & written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership ability to lead & manage staff
  • Valid Canadian RN License
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Long term care experience an asset
  • Access to a reliable vehicle
  • Must provide recent Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check (max. three months old)
