Job Description

Our client, located in Toronto, Ontario is seeking a Quality Engineer/Specialist.  This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Sr. Manager, Global Quality.  Your primary responsibilities will include; root cause analysis, problem containment, risk mitigation and corrective/preventive action related to quality issues.  Key responsibilities include:

  1. Work actively with cross-functional teams to better understand quality issues and drive continuous improvements.
  2. Participate in the development and execution of product quality plans to ensure design process and product robustness.
  3. Analyze past problem history and warranty data to identify trends and drive continuous product quality and reliability improvements.
  4. Actively participate in customer complaints, internal failures, PCN’s, ECO’s, SCAR’s, Stop Order Processes, etc. to improve process efficiencies and ensure appropriate actions are implemented.
  5. Ensure supplier and CM corrective actions are issued along with applicable data validation and ensure appropriate remedies are implemented and audited.  
  6. Actively participate in ISO internal/external audits and support the implementation of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  7. Review Failure Analysis reports and participate in DFMEA/PFMEA/DFM meetings to ensure product design integrity as it applies to product quality and manufacturability.
  8. Drive and promote a preventative and proactive quality improvement culture utilizing best practices such as Poke Yoke.
  9. Champion LEAN activities and projects to reduce non value added activities to drive efficiencies and cost savings.
  10. Work closely with and visit manufacturing sites and quality teams to ensure the successful execution of product quality and test plans.
  11. Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly presentations for the Global Quality Team.
  12. Utilizing program management tools, ensure activities meet project timing requirements and present project status reports and technical findings to senior management.


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  2. 5+ years of relevant experience inclusive of product development quality within the electronics industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical components and systems.
  4. Demonstrated problem solving skills using tools and methods such as; 8D, A3, DMAIC, SPC, DOE, PDCA, 5P, 5Why, FT and process mapping.
  5. Experience leading quality initiatives as they apply to product design, risk assessment, reliability and design validation.
  6. Experience managing and working with remote design teams and contract manufacturers.
  7. Strong understanding of statistical methods, continuous improvement and LEAN methodology (Green or Six-Sigma black belt certification is an asset).
  8. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  9. Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Minitab.
  10. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification is an asset.
  11. Ability to travel up to 30% domestically or internationally.
