Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturer of products used in the automotive industry is looking for a Process Engineering Specialist to join their team of technical production professionals.  This is a full-time permanent position located in Aurora, Ontario.  Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the design, quotation, build and commissioning of equipment used to manufacture new projects.  Key responsibilities include:

  1. Work closely with vendors to procure quotations, determine process costs and monitor the design, build and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment.
  2. Work closely with internal cross functional teams to ensure requirements are understood, project status is communicated and projects meet cost, quality and productivity requirements.
  3. Responsible for process development, program documentation, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA’s), Process Flow Charts (PFC’s), Design of Experiments (DOE’s), etc. in conjunction with input from team members.
  4. Investigate and implement processes improvements and controls to increase performance, quality, safety and drive cost reductions.
  5. Coordinate projects from quotation to installation for new programs and/or changes to existing programs as required due to engineering changes.
  6. Support and ensure the 5S principals are applied, contributing to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that compliments the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  7. Travel to and provide support to other facilities within Canada, US and Mexico as required.


  1. University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent job related experience.
  2. 7+ years experience in the automotive industry.
  3. Strong knowledge and working experience with automated/robotic MIG and Spot welding equipment within a process driven, highly controlled production environment.
  4. Experience with laser and robotics automation equipment, including PLC controls, electrical, pneumatics, etc.
  5. Effective problem solving and decision making skills.
  6. Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD &T).
  7. Experience with PFMEA, PFC’s, Process Layouts and DOE’s.
  8. Sound understanding of TS16949 and ISO 14001…
  9. Excellent interpersonal communications skills (written, verbal and presentation)
  10. Experience with MS Word, Excel, Project and CAD…
