Our client who is a public company located in Langley is one of the leading manufacturer of premium European meat products. They are looking for someone who is confidential, folksy (be able to communicate well with the production line staff regards to their payroll), polite and good disposition.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager and working closely with Human Resources/Finance Teams, this position is responsible for accurately reconciling all payroll accounts and ensuring that any payroll errors found are corrected properly and quickly. This position will assist, as needed, with the processing of the full payroll cycle and benefit administration for their union and non-union employee groups, while maintaining a customer needs driven focus. Responsible to review the current payroll processes to suggest and implement best practices.


Reporting and Reconciling (65%):

  • Designing and running of required reports to ensure the accuracy of the payroll
  • Reconciliation of all payroll accounts, both month end and year end
  • Maintaining of CRA payroll account
  • Administration of WorkSafeBC, Alberta WCB, and Ontario WCB accounts
  • Administer the pension plan and ESOP plan, including preparing the contributions
  • Oversee the production of T4s through the payroll and ensure their accuracy
  • Prepare and conduct year end procedures and year start procedures and reports (i.e. vacation entitlement and accruals)
  • Audit accruals to ensure integrity
  • Produce and provide bi weekly and monthly reports using the WFN program or as needed
  • Provide ICBC, WCB and other external agencies hours/ earnings or other information as required

Process accurate payroll for hourly, salaried and commission employees on a bi-weekly basis, as needed (10%):

  • Prepare, process and distribute bi-weekly payrolls for salaried, hourly, and commissioned employees (BC, ON, AB), including issuing manual cheques as required
  • Create efficient and effective payroll processes to collect accurate and timely pay data
  • Complete all necessary paperwork related to new hires, change of status, terminations, and pay changes; enter these changes in the payroll system and confirm their accuracy
  • Prepare Records of Employment and other related government documentation
  • Support employees and management in day to day payroll and human resources issues

Customer Service and Team work (15%):

  • Understand and manage inquiries from employees while providing solutions with a customer service focus
  • Assist and support projects and duties as required
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Human Resources team to create an efficient information channel

HACCP and SQF (5%):

  • Comply with all HACCP and SQF requirements
  • Actively participate in HACCP and SQF training with the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding
  • Advise and assist others to ensure department compliance

Health and Safety (5%):

  • Comply with and follow all safety regulations including Work Safe BC regulations and FG Deli Group plant rules and regulations
  • Work in a safe manner which will not cause injury or damage to yourself or others including the product and the facility itself
  • Report any injuries to a First Aid attendant
  • Report any safety concerns to your Team Leader or safety representative
  • Actively participate in Health & Safety training with the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding
  • Assist with and support team projects as required


  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation and minimum of 5 years’ experience in payroll and benefits administration best practices, preferably with a large payroll
  • ADP payroll (WFN system) and time and attendance program knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge and application of Employment Law and payroll compliance legislation
  • Full understanding of Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
  • Fundamental understanding of accounting
  • Detail oriented and mathematically inclined with a commitment to deliver high quality and accurate results
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and adheare to tight deadlines
  • Diligent, reliable and trustworthy to protect confidential information
  • Logical, analytical, and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently
  • Flexible and adaptable to organizational change with an optimistic attitude to continuous learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to clearly deliver messages effectively at all levels within the organization
  • Self-driven to work independently with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
