Job Description

Design Group Vancouver is recruiting for a Mechanical Technologist. Our client, a local fuel cell company in the metro Vancouver is seeking a Mechanical Technologist to work with their engineering team on a long-term contract assignment.

Accountabilities:
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting in the build and verification of mechanical systems
  • Building prototype mechanical systems, such as those containing mechanical fluid, structural, pressure, and sensing components
  • Troubleshooting and failure analysis of mechanical components and systems
  • Selecting and sourcing mechanical components
Requirements
  • Must have excellent mechanical prototyping skills such as pipe fitting and tube bending as well as using tools, drills, grinders, saws and wrenches
  • Must have a minimum 2 years’ experience working in a relevant industry
  • Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Knowledge of mechanical/electronic components and their characteristics, applications and limitations
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
  • A Mechanical Red Seal certificate in trade would be a benefit (ie. Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) or Pipefitter)
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software
  • Ability to create Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Experience with instrumentation including pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
  • Experience with welding Stainless Steel
  • Experience designing, drawing and analyzing mechanical components
The individual chosen for this role will be highly creative, professional, hardworking, achievement focused, analytical and organized. Strong attention to detail, planning and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
