Job Description

With significant projects completed in Canada, this is a multi-disciplined construction company dedicated to the art of city building and producing state-of-the-art developments with careful consideration to sustainability.

This client is seeking a Senior Superintendent for a project which is still in excavation with a completion date for 2020. This role, reporting into the General Superintendent will be responsible for;

  • Responsible for field staffing, quality control, trade coordination, project scheduling, field cost control, safety administration and reporting, within the structural scope of the project
  • Maintains liaison with engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications and schedule
  • To ensure work meets or exceeds the level of quality expected within budget
  • Ensure construction is conducted in accordance with relevant codes and legislation
  • Implementation of company policies and procedures throughout and ensure compliance
  • Complete site planning and review the master schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager
  • Ensure drawing details are accurate and to specification
  • Support the purchasing of site materials and tools
  • Conduct regular site inspections and arrange for timely third party inspections as required
  • Review trade contract scopes of work and ensure any discrepancies are raised
  • Provide solutions and risk mitigating strategies throughout the project
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with key stakeholders throughout the project
  • Train, coach and support the project team to develop a high performing team
  • Attend and provide regular updates during project meetings
  • Ensure health and safety programs are implemented and enforced on site among all employees, trades and contractors
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders
  • Ad-hoc tasks as directed

This role requires a resilient Site Superintendent that enjoys being challenged and finding solutions to complex problems. In addition, you will have;

  • Minimum 5 years in a similar role in high-rise residential construction and experience in supervision capacity
  • Strong experience in structural aspects of concrete construction (including trades)
  • Successful completion of BCIT Building Technology Project (or equivalent)
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and other construction related documentation
  • Professional communication at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive and can-do attitude
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at any one point in time
  • Intermediate skills in computer software – MS office, MS project
  • Experience using Procore advantageous
