Job Description

Design Group Staffing is currently recruiting for Electrical Technician / Technologists for our client located in the Stoney Creek, ON area.

This exciting & innovative company is a provider of welding solutions to the construction and power energy industries. Through the use of state of the art technology, advanced weld engineering, skilled trades and project management, this great company offers customers a cost effective, high quality service and product.

Our client is an industry leader, specializing in the design and manufacture of welding systems and precision welding power supplies. They are currently seeking candidates who are qualified for the role of E-Tech (Electrical Field Technician / Technologist) and who are interested in travelling to various client sites.

Typical Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • Troubleshooting, installing, setting up and repairing automated welding equipment
  • Maintaining equipment service logs
  • Maintaining spare parts lists
  • Installing, setting up and commissioning equipment at site at production facilities
  • Completing quality testing of robotic welding systems
  • Providing equipment maintenance and calibration support for their fleet of equipment
  • Intermittent lifting up to 50lb
  • Occasionally working in confined spaces
  • Regular North America travel to customer sites
  • Occasional international travel to customer sites
  • Working in nuclear facilities and/or oil and gas instillations

Key Skill Requirements:

  • Experience in Microsoft applications, computer software and hardware
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
  • Solid customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Organized and project driven
  • Strong multi-tasker

Key Education/Experience Requirements:

  • College level education is required
  • Electrical, Electronic or Electromechanical Technician or Technologist degree is required
  • Previous experience travelling in North America is required
  • Previous experience travelling Internationally is an asset
  • Previous experience self-booking travel arrangements is an asset
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a welding equipment manufacturing environment is preferred

Candidates should be able to obtain a Canadian Passport, travel VISA’s and pass various background / site access checks as required by our clients. Candidates should have a valid driver’s license.
