Job Description

Our client, located in Toronto, Ontario is looking for a Product Development Program Manager to join their team of technical and business professionals. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Manager of Program Management. Your primary responsibility will be to support project teams in the coordination of project schedules and deliverables for their Toronto Design Centre. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Coordinate with cross-functional project teams to manage product development planning, ensuring segment goals are met and issues are resolved in an effective manner.
  2. Develop, manage and maintain project plans using MS Project or similar software.
  3. Plan and facilitate project review meetings (including creating and maintaining minutes) to ensure timelines/deliverables are met, address issues and mitigate future risks.
  4. Act as an interface between the company and the customer, ensuring objectives are met and positive customer relationships are maintained.
  5. Manage and report on project status to both internal and external customers.
  6. Utilize your persuasive and negotiating skills to strengthen cross-functional relationships, gain support in resolving issues and efficiently meet project goals.
  7. Create and maintain project history records allowing project teams and management to monitor progress.
  8. Evaluate project history and assess with project teams how well projects have been managed (including lessons learned) and implement best practices/continuous improvements accordingly.
  9. Track and manage project and program financials (i.e. set baselines, tracking to budget, cost management, etc.).

Qualifications:

  1. Engineering Degree or Diploma or related education and experience.
  2. 4+ years of program management experience within a complex electronics product design environment along with strong knowledge of the phased/gate design approach.
  3. Excellent communication, customer relations, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
  4. Strong understanding of customer satisfaction.
  5. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with changing deadlines and priorities.
  6. Experience working with and motivating diverse team members with a wide variety of backgrounds and geographies.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project.
  8. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment used, supply chain, printed circuit boards and subassemblies is preferred. 
  9. Ability to travel as required (10% max).
  10. PMP certification is an asset.
