JOB DESCRIPTION:

This innovative organization is currently seeking an experienced Industrial Cooling Tower Engineer to support our growing business. Position will work in our Engineering department alongside our Industrial Water engineering group supporting cooling tower engineering needs as well as some Project Management and Project Estimations. Ideally, the successful individual will work out of their Burlington, ON office, however they are open to either working remotely or out of their Edmonton, AB office. This position will also have the opportunity to also work in their Industrial Water Engineering team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineer from either Mechanical, Structural, Chemical, or Civil Engineering discipline with equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics and mechanical components from the Industrial Water sector and more specifically the Industrial Cooling Tower marketplace.
  • 5+ years industry experience in Industrial Water and Cooling Tower Engineering, Project Management and Project Estimation.
  • Microsoft Suite of Products Capable
  • AutoCAD capable

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engineering:

  • Prepare cooling tower performance ratings and thermal performance curves using company tools to support the preparation of sales proposals. Maintain and develop guidelines and processes for thermal ratings and testing.
  • Prepare specific product and structural design scopes.
  • Support product / development testing and design activities in support of engineering objectives.
  • Support engineering standards reviews.
  • Review RFQ’s and mechanical and structural design specifications to ensure they meet engineering and safety standards
  • Bill of Materials preparation

Project Estimations & Sales Proposals:

  • Prepare detailed scope of work and detailed project estimations including materials takeoff, manpower loading schedules, and construction plans.
  • Support sales proposal generation. Review customer specifications and develop required technical clarifications/exceptions and customer required data sheets.
  • Work closely with estimating reviewing estimates for conformance to scope of work.
  • QA/QC information, drawings, hourly labor rates, and schedules with team support.

Project Management:

  • Take ownership of all assigned projects until complete.
  • Monitor project schedule, keeping track of equipment, submittals, Shop Drawings and Permits. Maintain project work schedules, punch list and forecast with profit margins.
  • Responsible for managing all aspect of the order to include, change orders, order processing, compliance, purchase orders, labor coordination and set-up, and contract and billing review.
  • Plan and execute kick-off and close-out meetings.

  • Strong ability to learn independently and through job specific training.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually on multifaceted tasks and projects.
  • Be detail oriented, and able to commit to and support a structured process to goal realization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical literature, safety standards, operating and maintenance instructions, test reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to travel as required to support sales and project execution.
