Job Description

Design Group Staffing is currently recruiting for a Controls System Designer Junior in Burlington. Our client is a world renowned automatic strapping machine manufacturer.

This position will support the automation team in software development, control system design, shop testing and on site commissioning, troubleshooting and training.

Control Systems Designer Jr. Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with project design team to design and develop control systems for automated machines.
- PLC Programming for Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE PLC’s using - Studio5000, Simatic Manager, TwinCAT, Proficy, etc.
- HMI Programming in WinCC or Factory Talk View Studio, C-More, etc.
- Specify and source electrical components.
- Electrical panel design.
- Assist in design and development for R&D projects.
- Support the automation team during shop start-up of new equipment.
- Support the automation team during commissioning of new equipment.
- Provide remote customer support for maintenance and troubleshooting of existing equipment.
- Provide training on new or existing equipment to customers.
- Supplement the Parts and Service group with scheduled on-site maintenance or warranty service on Customer equipment.

Qualifications/Experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
- Good electrical aptitude and knowledge with an emphasis on hands on experience.
- Self-motivated, organized and capable of managing multiple jobs and priorities.
- Proficient in various PLC and HMI development packages, specifically Studio5000 and TIA Portal.
- Proficient Microsoft Office user.

Working Conditions
- Physically fit.
- Ability to work at a computer for extensive periods.
- Ability to be in and out of dirty, dusty environments.
- Ability to stand for multiple consecutive hours.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work.

Travel Requirements
- Willing to travel for periods up to 1-2 weeks at a time (approximately 25% of time)
- Valid G class driver’s license required
- Valid passport required for international travel
