Job Description

As a result of continuing growth and expanded strategic focus, our client is looking to add a Business Development Manager to their team. This is a home-office based role, based out of Calgary.

This role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and expanding strategic relationships with end users, OEMs, and integrators, supporting the SCADA and communications applications in mining, oil & gas, and other industrial markets.


  • Develop, execute, and constantly update a Strategic Market plan for entry into the communications segments of the mining and oil & gas markets
  • Represent company in market associations, tradeshows and other customer facing forums
  • Establish productive and professional relationships with new and existing customers’ key personnel
  • Identify and quality opportunities, and feed the sales process
  • Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis to insure core products are available to support customers
  • Lead solution development efforts that best address customer needs
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to help customers make their business successful
  • Develop tactical plans to achieve strategic customer objectives defined by company management
  • Understand customers’ business drivers and key operational metrics
  • Proactively seek feedback to understand any customer issues
  • Provide frequent progress reports to the management

 Credentials & Experience: 

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in the field of engineering is preferred but not necessary
  • Looking for someone with at least 5+ years in a similar role, closing at the C suite levels
  • Background in the power or power electronics business preferred
  • Background with SCADA networks/private networks for mining, oil & gas, and/or industrial applications
  • Experience in a hunter capacity within the industrial sector including mining, and oil & gas
  • Strong presentation skills coupled with professional business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to lead solution development efforts that best address customer needs
  • Outgoing; self-driven
  • Hunter’s mentality - opened to new concepts, and listening and investigating all opportunities; energetic, competitive, not afraid to pick up the phone
  • Ability to travel 50% throughout North America
