Job Description

Design Group Staffing Vancouver is recruiting for an Building Energy Modeler. Our client, an industry leading engineering consulting firm in Vancouver is seeking an experienced Building Energy Modeler to join their team.

Accountabilities:

Responsibilities: The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing simulation models of HVAC and lighting systems to accurately estimate energy consumption and demand in commercial, residential and institutional buildings
  • Calculating energy consumption and demand savings associated with energy conservation measures for new and existing buildings
  • Providing design feedback to architects and engineers on HVAC design and operation
  • Demonstrating compliance with energy codes and standards
  • Completing building permit applications and energy efficiency incentive applications on behalf of clients
  • Facility site visits as required
  • Developing written documentation concerning recommended facility improvement measures, including accurate descriptions, savings potential, cost estimates and back up data to verify facility improvement measure
  • Evaluating, interpret, clarify and explain complex specifications, performance characteristics or other technical data

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline such as Building Systems
  • Registered or Eligible to register with The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia and/or a Certified Energy Manager would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years mechanical and electrical building systems and proven industry related experience with commercial, residential and institutional projects.
  • Should have a strong understanding of, energy markets, energy project implementation and the building construction process
  • Asset to have eQuest, EE4, IES-VE, Trace and HAP working knowledge
  • HVAC design and experience in controls and commissioning would be an asset

The individual chosen for this role will be highly creative, professional, hardworking, achievement focused, analytical and organized. Strong attention to detail, planning and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must. All candidates must be able to work in Canada.
